Questions About Your Federal Benefits

General

Who is FEDBenefit Advisor for?

FEDBenefit Advisor works with active federal employees, employees nearing retirement, and current federal retirees in Georgia, Florida, and New Jersey who want a clearer picture of their FERS, TSP, FEGLI, and Social Security benefits.

Who is Danilo Williams?

Danilo Williams has over 20 years of experience in life and health insurance, is a former member of the U.S. Army and the FAA, and is a Certified Professional Federal Benefits Coach. He works directly with federal employees to help them understand the benefits they've already earned.

Is this an official government service?

No. FEDBenefit Advisor is an independent advisory service, not a government agency. Danilo helps federal employees understand and plan around the benefits already provided by their employer — he does not administer or represent OPM, SSA, or any federal agency.

Is there any pressure to buy something?

No. The goal of every conversation is to help you understand your options clearly. If a product genuinely fits your situation, it will be discussed — but there's no sales pressure and no obligation to move forward with anything.

Consultations

What happens during a consultation?

A consultation is a one-on-one conversation focused on your specific situation — your FERS pension estimate, your TSP allocation, your FEGLI coverage, and how Social Security fits into the picture. You'll leave with a clearer understanding of where you stand and what, if anything, is worth adjusting.

How long does a consultation take?

Most initial consultations run about 30 minutes. If your situation needs more time, Danilo will let you know and schedule a follow-up.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Having your most recent Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), your latest TSP statement, and your FEGLI enrollment information on hand helps make the conversation more specific — but none of it is required to get started.

Do you offer consultations in Spanish?

Yes. Danilo is bilingual and can conduct your consultation in English or Spanish, whichever is more comfortable for you.

FERS, TSP, FEGLI & Social Security

How do I know if I'm covered under FERS?

Most federal employees hired after 1987 are covered under FERS. Your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) will typically indicate your retirement system. If you're not sure, this is one of the first things covered in a consultation.

Can you help me choose my TSP fund allocation?

Yes. TSP allocation is one of the most common topics in a consultation, especially for employees within 5-10 years of retirement whose allocation may no longer match their timeline.

Should I keep my FEGLI coverage into retirement?

It depends on your age, your coverage options, and your broader financial picture — FEGLI premiums increase as you age, so what made sense earlier in your career may need a second look. This is a common consultation topic.

What's the best age to claim Social Security?

There's no single best age — it depends on your FERS pension, your TSP balance, your health, and your household situation. A consultation walks through these factors together instead of relying on a general rule of thumb.
